The current NFL record for passing yards in a season is 5,477 set by Peyton Manning in 2013. Marino acknowledges that today’s quarterbacks are better protected than in his era, with rules preventing hits to the head and knees. Despite playing in a time when quarterbacks could be hit harder, Marino had a successful career and played until he was 38.
