Chiefs’ Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore falter in Travis Kelce’s absence as drop-filled night fuels loss to Lions

Lions Take Advantage of Chiefs’ Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore’s Struggles in Travis Kelce’s Absence, Loss Amplified by Numerous Drops

In the 2023 season opener, the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Detroit Lions due in part to numerous dropped passes by their wide receivers. With star tight end Travis Kelce out due to injury, the Chiefs had an opportunity for other receivers to step up, but instead, they struggled to catch the ball. Kadarius Toney was particularly responsible for two crucial drops, one of which led to a pick-six for the Lions. Overall, the Chiefs had four drops in the game, their second-highest number with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. They will need Kelce back in the lineup soon.
