London Game Inspires Marcus Mariota to Reflect on the Link Between Football and Soccer
Marcus Mariota, Washington Commanders quarterback, celebrates the chance to play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, building on his childhood passion for soccer. Likely starting in place of Jayden Daniels, Mariota aims to complete a trifecta of starting at iconic soccer venues, having previously played at Wembley and Bernabeu. He credits soccer for enhancing his spatial awareness and footwork as an NFL quarterback. Despite mixed results in past games, Mariota remains confident and excited about the experience, hoping to instill a love of soccer’s fundamentals in his children, as it shaped his own athletic foundation.
