Mapalo ‘Maz’ Mwansa, a new Carolina Panthers signing, grew up wanting to emulate Yaya Touré, but gave up on organized sports until a friend noticed his athletic abilities at an informal sports day. Mwansa, the son of Zambian parents, took up American football and excelled as an EDGE rusher despite being a latecomer to the sport. He hopes to remove the surprise people feel when Zambians succeed in sports and wants to showcase the athletic talent from his country on the international stage.
