Commanders finalize kicking changes: K Matt Gay signed, K Zane Gonzalez released
Washington Commanders have signed kicker Matt Gay to a one-year deal, replacing Zane Gonzalez. Gay, previously with the Colts, had an 82.1 percent field goal success rate in the last two seasons. Gonzalez, who joined Washington in the middle of the 2024 season, had a 31-of-37 field goal record that year. Gay’s contract is valued at over $4.25 million, the most guaranteed money for a kicker on a one-year deal in NFL history. He has an 85.5 percent career field goal success rate in 90 games with the Buccaneers, Rams, and Colts.
