Ex-49ers and Cowboys quarterback Trey Lance to sign with AFC Super Bowl contender
Former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance has signed a one-year, $6.2 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers to back up Justin Herbert. Lance spent two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys after being traded by the San Francisco 49ers. He only made four starts with the 49ers before being traded. Lance saw limited playing time in the 2023 season with the Cowboys. Despite not getting many regular season snaps, he showed promise in preseason games. The Chargers are giving Lance another opportunity to showcase his skills and work with top quarterbacks in the league. Former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy praised Lance’s progress and athleticism.
