NFL coach denies involvement in hacking of athletes’ personal photos

Former football coach Matt Weiss pleaded not guilty to charges of hacking into the computer accounts of thousands of college athletes to find intimate images, primarily of women. The indictment alleges unauthorized computer access and identity theft from 2015 to 2023. A lawsuit seeking class-action status was filed on behalf of former University of Michigan athletes, accusing the university of failing to supervise and monitor Weiss. He accessed databases of over 100 colleges and universities, downloading personal information and medical data of more than 150,000 athletes. Weiss primarily targeted female college athletes based on their affiliations and physical characteristics. He was fired from Michigan in 2023 for not cooperating with an investigation.
