Jerry Jones is “pleased” with the judge’s ruling in the Sunday Ticket case

Jerry Jones expresses satisfaction with the judge’s ruling in the Sunday Ticket case

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones testified at the trial of the Sunday Ticket class action, where the NFL faced a $4.7 billion verdict. However, the presiding judge ultimately gave the league a pass for the full amount, finding that while the Sunday Ticket package violated federal antitrust laws, plaintiffs failed to provide reliable expert witness testimony on financial harm caused by overcharging for out-of-market games. Jones expressed relief at not having to pay $440 million, his share of the judgment. Despite the ruling, Jones may still find ways to delay paying or renegotiate player contracts, although his assumptions about salary cap increases may not hold true.
