Chiefs move on from young running back

Chiefs part ways with inexperienced running back

The Kansas City Chiefs have decided to cut running back La’Mical Perine, whom they added in January 2023. Perine only had notable playing time during a Week 18 game against the Chargers. The Chiefs did not retain free agent Jerick McKinnon and did not draft any running backs this year, choosing to retain Clyde Edwards-Helaire despite his underwhelming performance. Perine, who previously played for the Jets, Eagles, and Dolphins, was brought back by the Chiefs, but it is uncertain who will now fill the RB3 role for the team in 2024. Kansas City’s running back corps now includes Keaontay Ingram, Deneric Prince, Louis Rees-Zammit, Carson Steele, and Emani Bailey.
