Mayor believes Chiefs have a “strong chance” to make a comeback in Dallas
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is actively trying to bring the Kansas City Chiefs back home to Dallas, where they originally started as the AFL’s Dallas Texans. The recent rejection by Jackson County voters to extend a sales tax for Arrowhead Stadium renovation has opened the door for Johnson’s efforts. He believes Dallas is a lucrative market for another NFL team and has been in communication with Chiefs owner Clark Hunt. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may not be in favor of another team in the area, but Johnson remains optimistic that Dallas can support two teams. The Chiefs’ lease runs until 2030, giving time for Kansas City to find a solution to keep the team local.
