Chiefs extend Spagnuolo’s contract with super reward
The Kansas City Chiefs have extended the contract of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, showing their trust in his leadership. Under Spagnuolo’s guidance, the Chiefs had the second-best scoring defense in the 2023 regular season and won their eighth straight AFC West championship. The team also excelled defensively in the postseason, holding high-scoring teams to an average of less than 16 points per game and winning back-to-back Super Bowls. The Chiefs had the youngest defensive team in the NFL at 25.4 years old, and players even made T-shirts that read “In Spags We Trust” during the playoffs. Coach Andy Reid praised Spagnuolo for his work and their successful collaboration over the years.
