49ers’ Brock Purdy accomplishes playoff feat last achieved by Joe Montana

Brock Purdy of the 49ers achieves playoff milestone last matched by Joe Montana

Despite leading the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl, quarterback Brock Purdy still has his doubters. However, he accomplished something rare in the 34-31 win over the Detroit Lions, becoming the first passer since Joe Montana in 1984 to sweep every playoff team in his conference in a single season. Montana did so in 1984, beating four teams, while Purdy had to beat six different teams and staged comebacks against the Packers and the Lions in back-to-back weeks. Only three other quarterbacks, Roger Staubach, Fran Tarkenton, and Terry Bradshaw, have accomplished this feat.
