Chiefs star TE Travis Kelce earns another accolade in ‘Madden 24’

The summer of Travis Kelce continues with the tight end bouncing back into an esteemed club in “Madden 24.”

On Thursday, EA Sports revealed it gave Kelce a 99 rating — the highest possible grade a player can receive in the video game — for the fourth time in his career, the most of any TE in “Madden” history. Kelce is one of four players to earn the rating. The others are Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson, Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and Cowboys guard Zack Martin.

It’s not a surprise Kelce keeps garnering more accolades as he’s starting to ascend the all-time TE ladder.

In 10 seasons with the Chiefs, Kelce has recorded 814 receptions for 10,344 receiving yards, the fourth-most among TEs in league history. Per Bill Barnwell of ESPN, Tony Gonzalez — the all-time receiving yards leader (15,127) for TEs — reached 10,000 yards in 37 more games than Kelce. If the Chiefs star maintains his pace, he will have a great chance to break the record.

Plus, he’s not slowing down. In 17 games last season, Kelce recorded career highs in receptions (110) and receiving TDs (12) and earned his fourth First-Team All-Pro nod, the second-most among TEs.

The 33-year-old has solidified his status as a future Pro Football Hall of Famer. Per Pro Football Reference’s HOF monitor, his score of 107.21 is already above average for a HOF TE (97).

“Travis is definitely the best player I’ve thrown to,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently said, via Vanity Fair.

Exceptional players such as Mahomes and Kelce are why the Chiefs are a potential dynasty and could repeat as Super Bowl champions. Per OddsChecker, Kansas City is favored to hoist the Lombardi Trophy again.
