Michigan football is doing a spotlight on seven different football players who chose to return to the Wolverines despite garnering NFL interest.
In the first episode, the Wolverines football team focuses on defensive tackle, Kris Jenkins. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound lineman is entering his senior season in Ann Arbor. Jenkins came to Michigan back in 2020 as a three-star recruit out of Olney (Maryland) Our Lady Good Counsel.
Jenkins, the son of former NFL great Kris Jenkins Sr., will be asked to lead the Wolverines’ defensive line this season after Mazi Smith went to the Dallas Cowboys. Not only did he start all 14 games, but Jenkins was an All-Big Ten honoree last season and led all defensive linemen on the team with 54 tackles. He also compiled 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in 2022.
Watch the video below and Jenkins explains why he returned. Plus, you can find out how he got the nickname ‘The Mutant’.
