Mike McDaniel’s Job in Jeopardy as Justin Herbert Struggles and Chargers Begin Rough Season
Heading into Week 5, the Los Angeles Chargers remain winless, with second-year coach Jim Harbaugh struggling to improve their performance. First-year offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel is under scrutiny, as highlighted by NFL analyst Kristopher Knox. The Chargers rank 21st in yards and 29th in scoring, with quarterback Justin Herbert showing concerning regression, tallying only four touchdowns and six interceptions for a career-low passer rating of 70.6. Knox suggests that if Harbaugh seeks a change, passing game coordinator Shane Day could replace McDaniel due to his familiarity with Herbert’s strengths. The team urgently needs to address these offensive issues.
