Cowboys News: Key Things to Watch in Dallas’ Preseason Opener
Coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated that while Caleb Downs’ status remains unofficial, he and fellow first-round pick Malachi Lawrence are expected to play in Saturday’s game. Downs, the No. 11 overall pick, has impressed during training camp, participating with the first-team defense as a nickel cornerback and taking on additional safety responsibilities with the second team due to injuries. He has also been involved in punt return work. Notably, 2025 first-round pick Tyler Booker did not play in last season’s preseason opener.
