How Titans’ Saleh is Fulfilling His Father’s Dream as an NFL Coach
Robert Saleh’s journey into football began at age 7, despite initial fears of being “soft.” A pivotal moment came when he faced an “Oklahoma drill,” supervised by his father, Sam. A close-knit Lebanese-American family, they prioritized education and hard work. After a banking career, Robert was inspired to coach following the September 11 attacks and his brother’s near-miss. He started coaching at Michigan State in 2002 and later joined the NFL, becoming the first Muslim head coach with the Jets. Despite challenges, including a 20-36 record, he now leads the Tennessee Titans with strong family support.
