Chargers Decide on David Njoku Following Mike McDaniel’s Ambitious Goal for Justin Herbert
The Los Angeles Chargers have signed former Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million as a new weapon for quarterback Justin Herbert in the 2026 season. Njoku, who lost his starting role to rookie Harold Fannin Jr., recorded 33 catches for 293 yards and four touchdowns in 2025. New offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel aims to elevate Herbert’s performance, similar to his success with Tua Tagovailoa in Miami. McDaniel has set high expectations for Herbert to master his position and showcase his best football, following a disappointing postseason last January.
