Raiders owner Mark Davis sold Tom Brady a piece of the team after missing out on signing him in 2020 when he became a free agent. Davis expressed regret that Brady chose the Buccaneers over the Raiders, as he and Brady had discussed the possibility of Brady playing quarterback for the team. Despite wanting Brady on the team in 2020, Davis respected the decision of head coach Jon Gruden and GM Mike Mayock to stick with Derek Carr. Davis eventually made Brady a Raider after his retirement, and the NFL made adjustments to allow Brady more access to teams in his role as a Fox broadcaster.
