Panther’s Scourton on the mend after collapsed lung
David Newton, an ESPN NFL reporter, has covered the Carolina Panthers since 1995 and currently covers the team. Carolina Panthers second-round pick Nic Scourton suffered a collapsed lung during a joint practice against the Texans. Initially diagnosed with heat-related symptoms, Scourton was taken to the hospital and is now week-to-week. Coach Dave Canales stated Scourton spent a night at the hospital in Houston before being driven back to Charlotte to avoid flying aggravating the condition. Backup quarterback Andy Dalton also suffered an elbow injury, but is awaiting imaging results. Starting quarterback Bryce Young struggled in a preseason game, and the starters will not play in the next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
