Ex-NFL running back Leshon Johnson convicted in Oklahoma dogfighting case

Leshon Johnson, former NFL running back, found guilty in Oklahoma dogfighting trial

Former NFL player Leshon Eugene Johnson from Oklahoma has been convicted of six felony counts related to a large-scale dogfighting operation. He faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on each count when he’s formally sentenced. Johnson operated Mal Kant Kennels in Broken Arrow and Haskell, selectively breeding pit bull-type dogs known as champions or grand champions for dog fighting. Prosecutors alleged Johnson profited from selling dogs and “stud rights” to other dogfighters. Despite his attorney’s claims that Johnson was just a breeder and not a dog fighter, he was found guilty based on evidence presented by the FBI.
