Mike Ditka: 73 Days until the Season Opener
Mike Ditka, a former tight end for the Dallas Cowboys from 1969 to 1972, brought leadership, toughness, and experience to the team. He played a key role in short-yardage and blocking situations, helping the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl title in 1971. Despite being near the end of his playing career, Ditka added veteran presence to a young, talented roster and developed a strong relationship with head coach Tom Landry. After retiring, he went on to have a successful coaching career, winning a Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears. Today we remember his contributions as we countdown to the Cowboys’ season opener.
