Rafferty, Former Cowboys Super Bowl Champion, Passes Away
Longtime Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman and Super Bowl XII champion Tom Rafferty passed away at 70 after suffering a stroke. He played in 221 games as a guard and center from 1976-89, blocking for Hall of Fame quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman. Rafferty spent his entire 14-year career with the Cowboys, winning a Super Bowl in 1978. He was known for his key block that helped spring Tony Dorsett’s 99-yard touchdown run in 1983. After retiring from the NFL, he worked in sports equipment sales. Rafferty is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and two grandchildren.
