The Washington Commanders have acquired wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a fifth-round pick pending a physical. Samuel, 29, provides another playmaker for the Commanders alongside Terry McLaurin and second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels. Samuel had 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns last season with the 49ers. Washington reached the NFC championship game last season. Samuel signed a three-year extension in 2022 and has had 334 receptions for 4,792 yards and 22 TDs since 2019. The 49ers granted permission for Samuel to seek a trade after a meeting with coach Kyle Shanahan. With Washington, Samuel becomes the team’s No. 2 wideout alongside McLaurin.
