Ex-Giants and Ravens Defensive Coordinator Returns to College Football After 20 Years in NFL
After two decades in the NFL, Don “Wink” Martindale is returning to the college game. His coaching career started at Division III Defiance College and then moved to four different Division I teams between 1994 and 2003. He then worked as a linebackers coach for the Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos before joining the Baltimore Ravens in 2012. He served as the inside linebackers coach, linebackers coach, and defensive coordinator for the team. He also had a brief stint as the New York Giants defensive coordinator. Known for his aggressive, blitz-heavy style, Martindale had been rumored for various NFL coaching positions following his departure from the Giants.
