Former Jaguars employee accused of stealing $22 million from club over five-year period

Ex-Jaguars staff member charged with embezzling $22 million from organization in five years

Former Jacksonville Jaguars employee Amit Patel has been accused of stealing over $22 million from the NFL club over five years. Patel allegedly took advantage of the Jaguars’ virtual credit card program to buy items, cryptocurrency, and place bets on online gambling sites. He was charged with wire fraud and illegal monetary transaction. The Jaguars confirmed Patel’s termination and cooperated with the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. A comprehensive review found that no other team employees were involved in or aware of Patel’s criminal activity. Patel’s power as a financial manager allowed him to hide fraudulent transactions.
