First Kenyan NFL Player Deported Amid Trump’s Immigration Enforcement
Daniel Adongo, the first Kenyan NFL player, was deported in June for a visa overstay and multiple arrests, including domestic violence allegations. The 37-year-old linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts had his visa expire in 2016 but remained in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) stated he posed a community threat due to his criminal record. Despite supporters claiming he only had one misdemeanor conviction and that he faced mental health issues worsened by detention, ICE highlighted his serious offenses. Adongo, who played for the Colts from 2013 to 2015, reportedly suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after his rugby career.
