Cowboys News: Two Game-Changers and Extra Day 3 Draft Capital
The Dallas Cowboys traded up to the 11th pick in the NFL Draft to select Ohio State defensive back Caleb Downs, giving up the 12th pick and two fifth-round selections. Downs, who started 44 games in college, recorded 256 tackles, six interceptions, and was a unanimous two-time All-American. His addition fills the team’s need for a nickel player, as highlighted by Coach Brian Schottenheimer. Downs, the 2025 Jim Thorpe Award winner, is the highest defensive back chosen by the Cowboys since 2012 when they picked Morris Claiborne at No. 6. The Dolphins selected Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor with the 12th pick.
