Trump pardons ex-NYPD cop convicted of acting as agent of China

Former NYPD Cop Convicted of Acting as Agent of China Pardoned by Trump

Former NYPD cop Michael McMahon was pardoned by President Trump for acting as an agent of China, despite being convicted by a federal jury. McMahon was found guilty of acting as a foreign agent and interstate stalking in a Chinese campaign to intimidate dissident Xu Jin. McMahon’s sentence was commuted after a campaign run by his wife, actress Martha Byrne, and GOP lawmakers Mike Lawler and Pete Sessions. The case was the first trial prosecuting members of China’s “Operation Fox Hunt” to forcibly repatriate dissidents. McMahon claimed he thought he was working for a private company, maintaining his innocence throughout the trial.
