Coaching decision for Bears: Benedit to start at left tackle instead of Jones
Courtney Cronin, a sports journalist for ESPN since 2017, recently announced that Theo Benedet will replace Braxton Jones as the Chicago Bears’ left tackle. Benedet, a former undrafted free agent, will make his second consecutive start in the upcoming game against the Washington Commanders. The decision to switch left tackles was made by coach Ben Johnson, who cited a desire to give rookie Ozzy Trapilo some playing time. Jones had started 44 games at left tackle until this change. The Bears had been evaluating their options throughout training camp, and Johnson had hinted at the possibility of making a change if needed during the season.
