Clearlake decides not to join Sonoma Clean Power presently
The Clearlake City Council voted 3-2 against joining Sonoma Clean Power, a public electricity provider seeking to expand into Lake County. While some council members supported the move citing potential cost savings and local control over energy sources, others expressed concerns about unclear future projects in Sonoma Clean Power’s GeoZone and the need for more community input. Sonoma Clean Power assured that they are not a for-profit entity and the door remains open for future consideration. The timeline for a decision is rapidly approaching, with the Board of Supervisors and Lakeport City Council set to decide on October 21.
