Pete Carroll set to make history in Week 1 of NFL season
Pete Carroll, at 74 years old, will become the oldest head coach in NFL history when he leads the Las Vegas Raiders against the New England Patriots on Sunday. Carroll previously coached the Seattle Seahawks, leading them to two Super Bowl appearances and one championship. The Raiders are looking to improve under his leadership, with a new quarterback in Geno Smith. Carroll has had coaching stints with the New England Patriots and New York Jets as well, and currently holds a career record of 170-120-1. Las Vegas is hoping Carroll’s experience and leadership will help them turn their fortunes around after a disappointing season.
