Jaguars choose not to exercise top tackler Lloyd’s option

Michael DiRocco, an NFL Nation reporter at ESPN covering the Jacksonville Jaguars, reports that the team has chosen not to pick up the fifth-year option on linebacker Devin Lloyd. This decision means Lloyd will become an unrestricted free agent after the current season. Despite solid stats in his first three seasons, including leading the team in tackles in 2024, Lloyd has struggled in pass coverage and positioning. He is the third of the Jaguars’ recent first-round picks to not have his fifth-year option picked up, following C.J. Henderson and K’Lavon Chaisson. The team did, however, pick up the fifth-year option on defensive end Travon Walker.
