After nearly being drafted by the 49ers, Mac Jones officially joins the team after four years
Mac Jones has agreed to a two-year deal to join the San Francisco 49ers after being closely linked to the team before the 2021 draft. The deal is worth $7 million with $5 million guaranteed. Jones was previously considered by the Niners but they ultimately chose Trey Lance. Lance struggled and was eventually traded, with Brock Purdy now the starting quarterback for the team. Jones had a successful rookie season in New England but regressed after his offensive coordinator left. The Niners were in need of a backup to Purdy after Joshua Dobbs left in free agency. Lance is also on the market.
