Owner Woody Johnson must refrain from interfering with the Jets’ operations in order to allow them to succeed
Since purchasing the New York Jets in 2000, Woody Johnson has seen some playoff success, including trips to the AFC Championship Game in 2009 and 2010. However, the team has since experienced a playoff drought, with a disappointing 5-12 season in 2024. Johnson’s more involved approach that year led to firing both the head coach and general manager. Heading into 2025 with a new regime in place, Johnson recognizes the need to be a better owner by taking a more hands-off approach and allowing the new hires, coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, to do their jobs effectively. Johnson understands that micromanaging is not the way to success.
