Texans sign veteran RB coming off injury to possibly compete for carries behind Joe Mixon, per report

Report: Texans sign experienced running back returning from injury to potentially vie for carries alongside Joe Mixon

The Houston Texans are adding former Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers to their roster. Akers, a former second-round pick, has had a career marred by multiple Achilles injuries but has shown potential with 1,581 yards and 11 touchdowns. Houston will sign him following a successful workout. This offseason, the Texans have already seen changes in their running back room with the departure of Devin Singletary and the acquisition of Joe Mixon. The team still has Dameon Pierce, Dare Ogunbowale, J.J. Taylor, and Jawhar Jordan on the roster. Akers’ addition brings experience and depth to the Texans running back group.
