City and Panthers seek $800M stadium renovation to secure team in Charlotte for next two decades

The Carolina Panthers and the City of Charlotte have proposed an $800 million renovation deal for Bank of America Stadium, ensuring the NFL team stays for 20 years. The city will invest $650 million, while Panthers owner David Tepper will add $150 million. Tepper has already put over $117 million in the stadium and is willing to pay $421 million for future improvements. The city’s share will be funded by existing tourism taxes. The renovation plans include upgraded technology, new seating, improved accessibility, and a reimagined community gathering space. The stadium is also home to Major League Soccer’s Charlotte FC.
