Louis Rees-Zammit signs NFL deal with Kansas City Chiefs
The Super Bowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs, have signed former Wales rugby union international Louis Rees-Zammit, who quit rugby to pursue a career in the NFL. Rees-Zammit impressed the Chiefs during his trial as a running back and wide receiver. His goal is to make the final 53-man roster for the new season. The former Gloucester, Wales and British & Irish Lions wing stunned the rugby world by quitting the sport in January. Rees-Zammit participated in the international player pathway program and impressed with a 4.44-second 40-yard dash. In a similar move, Gaelic football goalkeeper Charlie Smyth signed with the New Orleans Saints as a kicker to compete for a roster spot.
