49ers Offensive Lineman Apologizes for Criticizing teammate over mistake in Super Bowl
Following the San Francisco 49ers’ Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, there was finger-pointing. Guard Jon Feliciano tweeted blaming right tackle Colton McKivitz for the loss, but then threw his teammate Spencer Burford under the bus for allowing Chiefs player Chris Jones to get a free rush on quarterback Brock Purdy. The play resulted in a lost touchdown opportunity for San Francisco. Burford responded, and Feliciano apologized for the tweet, saying it was a miscommunication. Feliciano was injured in the game, allowing Burford to replace him, who had allowed three pressures, two QB hits, and a hurry. Feliciano had made seven starts down the stretch of the season.
