One person killed and 22 injured in shooting near end of Chiefs’ parade
One person was killed and 21 were injured by gunfire at the end of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade in Kansas City. Three people have been detained and are under investigation. Many of the wounded were in critical condition. The Chiefs’ players, coaches, and staff were safe. Video footage showed people performing CPR on victims and others tackling a suspect. Children were among those injured, but all were expected to recover. Hospitals treated many patients with gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred immediately after the parade ended, and multiple Chiefs players expressed concern for the victims. The celebratory mood was broken by the tragic incident.
