The Las Vegas Raiders are finalizing a deal to hire Antonio Pierce as their next head coach, replacing interim coach Josh McDaniels. The Raiders went 5-4 under Pierce’s watch and players and fans have shown strong support for him. NFL hiring rules required owner Mark Davis to interview at least two external minority and/or female candidates, which he did. Once in the position, Pierce will need to make decisions about his coaching staff, work with the general manager on personnel issues including the quarterback situation, and resolve the contract dispute with running back Josh Jacobs. The Raiders pick 13th in the upcoming draft and may need to address the quarterback position.
