Dolphins-Chiefs Playoff Game: Explaining the League’s Exclusive Streaming Partnership with Peacock
For the first time in NFL history, a postseason game will be exclusively broadcasted on a streaming service, Peacock. The game on Saturday night between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs will only be available on Peacock, with the exception of viewers in the local television markets of the respective teams. This is a trial for the league in its new television contract, with NBC Universal paying $110 million for rights to carry a wild card game on Peacock. Other playoff games will be available on different streaming services and broadcast networks. If the number of subscriptions and viewers is high, there is a possibility that future playoff games will also be exclusively on a streaming service.
