Lions created ‘illusion’ that led to confusion on controversial call

Controversial call made by Lions creates confusion due to illusion

The Dallas Cowboys won a dramatic 20-19 game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday with a contested final play. An illegal touch call negated the go-ahead two-point conversion for the Lions in the final seconds. Both the officials and Lions players contested what really happened before the negated two-point conversion. NFL Rules Analyst Dean Blandino believes the Lions might have had too much trickery on the play, causing confusion among the officiating crew. The penalty negated a seven-yard run on a first-and-10 play and Cowboys officiating crew also made controversial calls in their game against the Packers. The referees’ evaluation of the games could affect their playoff assignments.
