Questions still linger about why teams have not pursued Lamar
Lamar Jackson is close to clinching the AFC’s No. 1 seed with the Baltimore Ravens and is a favorite to win his second MVP award. No other teams made a major push to sign Jackson during last offseason, and only the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers showed mild interest. The Ravens placed a non-exclusive $32 million franchise tag on Jackson, allowing other teams to negotiate and sign him, but no other team engaged him. Despite some confusion and suspicion, an ongoing collusion case is being pursued by the NFL Players Association to understand why other teams did not pursue Jackson. Eventually, on April 27, Jackson and the Ravens agreed to a five-year, $260 million contract extension.
