Coaches of the Jets disregarded Aaron Rodgers’ preferences concerning blocking strategies
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during his debut with the team, and it has been revealed that he had expressed his dislike for plays that involved cut blocks to the Jets coaching staff throughout the offseason. However, two of the four plays that Rodgers ran in his debut, including the play that resulted in his injury, did incorporate cut blocks. The Jets offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett, who had worked with Rodgers previously, was aware of his preference against cut blocks but still called for them in the game. It is suggested that the offensive line coach’s stubborn coaching style may have played a role in this decision.
