Mahomes has ‘trust’ in Chiefs’ WRs despite drops

Chiefs’ WRs still have Mahomes’ ‘trust’ despite drops

The Kansas City Chiefs struggled offensively in their season opener against the Detroit Lions, losing 21-20. The absence of injured tight end Travis Kelce had a noticeable impact on the game. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes acknowledged that other players needed to step up, but that didn’t happen. Wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who was expected to be their No. 1 receiver, dropped several passes and only had one catch for one yard. Mahomes expressed trust in Toney and believes that with more practice and reps, the drops will decrease. The Chiefs are hopeful that Kelce will be ready for their Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
