Texans Set to Release Rookie LB Aiden Fisher Months After DeMeco Ryans’ Enthusiastic Endorsement
The Houston Texans selected linebacker Aiden Fisher 243rd overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, praising his communication skills and intelligence on the field. However, Jordan Schultz reported that the Texans are releasing Fisher before their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, placing him on waivers. Coach DeMeco Ryans, noting defensive breakdowns, took over play-calling from coordinator Matt Burke. Although Fisher made the initial 53-man roster, he played minimally with one tackle in three games and was inactive for Ryans’ first game as play-caller. The Texans are focusing on current roster needs, making Fisher an expendable asset.
