T Fred Johnson released by the Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have released Fred Johnson from their 90-man roster, eliminating him from the competition to be a reserve tackle. Johnson had been signed to the team’s practice squad in November and had played in the team’s first two preseason games. He played five games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and made 23 appearances for the Cincinnati Bengals in previous seasons. With Johnson gone, Dennis Kelly, Jack Driscoll, and Roderick Johnson remain as options to back up left tackle Jordan Mailata and right tackle Lane Johnson.
