Pro Football HOF makes sweeping changes to selection process

Pro Football Hall of Fame Revamps Selection Process

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has revised its selection process, reducing the number of selectors from 50 to 28 and eliminating the separate Seniors category. President Jim Porter announced these changes, effective for the Class of 2027, after a 2½-year review. Now, all players will be considered in a single pool, regardless of eligibility status. The Contributor category has also expanded, allowing broader consideration for candidates. Annually, a maximum of 15 individuals (13 players, one coach, one contributor) will be up for induction, requiring an 80% approval rate. In-person selector meetings will resume for final voting.
