San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan suffered a concussion, broken nose, broken ribs, and hand injuries in a car accident on July 14 in Palo Alto. He was hospitalized, but the other driver was not, and no citations were issued. General manager John Lynch stated Shanahan is undergoing concussion protocol and may be present for practice but will not lead drills or meetings until fully recovered. Assistant coach Chris Foerster will run the team during his absence. Shanahan is entering his 10th season and has led the team to two Super Bowl appearances, maintaining a 91-72 record overall.
